November 2018 Newsletter
Welcome to the ICF Sacramento Newsletter
President's Message
Greetings Coaches and Friends of ICF Sacramento,
As many of us are preparing for Thanksgiving, we are reminded once more about the fragility of life and our environments, and that nothing can ever be taken for granted.
Witnessing yet another horrific shooting and the devastating fires raging from Northern to Southern California, I ache for the pain that thousands of families are going through, for the loss of lives, pets, homes and cherished belongings, and the sense of security and safety - that should be ours to enjoy freely - shattered in a second, minute or hour.
What attracted me to America when I immigrated here nearly 40 years ago was the resiliency and hopeful optimism of its people - a can-do attitude even in the face of significant challenges. I am in awe of this vital force that unites us over and over again and brings communities together to rebuild and start the process of healing. This time will be no different. And yet, let’s not brush too quickly over the reality of how daunting this journey really is, especially for those who have lost loved ones. We honor you and your courage.
So, what can we do? That’s often the question asked after such tragedies. Coaches are generous. Some of us will donate time, money and essential items; some will pray; others will act through our political and legal systems to effect changes. One thing we can all do - and coaches know that intimately - is be the best we can, live the most fulfilled life we can, shine our light as bright and as wide as we can, so we touch people in a way that transforms lives and brings more peace to the world.
On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I wish you a safe, joyful, gratitude-filled Thanksgiving!
Coleen Chandler, PCC, CPCC

Dreamwork for Coaches
An Ancient Experience in a New Context
Presented by Will Sharon
Coaching traditionally deals with what we could call Day School. We work with the client’s waking experience and help them transform through the radical change that comes from the deep awareness they experience in the coaching process.
Night School, the time that we are asleep, offers us an additional pathway or dimension to the coaching relationship. In seeing dreams as messages from the soul or the self, we provide the client with an opportunity to become aware of the fullness of their experience as a human being.
The goal is to integrate what they learn in Night School to what they know from their experience in Day School and vice versa.
As coaching reclaims this experience for our clients we demonstrate how the fundamental tools of active listening and asking powerful questions provide the client with the confidence to access and understand the different elements of dream messages.
That understanding, like any transformative insight, is co-created between the coach and the client. We listen to dreams with the same profound curiosity as we do the needs and values of our clients. By going on the journey with them into a dream we expand the intimacy and trust that is the cornerstone of the coaching relationship.
At this Dreamwork Webinar, you will discover that working with dreams:
* Strengthens the Co-creating of the Relationship by
Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client in working with an additional aspect of their experience: dreams.
* It also expands Communicating Effectively by utilizing Active Listening and Powerful Questioning to help the client understand the messages in their dreams.
Coaches, Bring a Dream You Want to be Coached On!
