 | ICW is Here – Let’s Show Sacramento the Power of Coaching!
Dear ICF Sacramento Members,
After months of thoughtful planning, International Coaching Week (ICW) is finally upon us! This global celebration of coaching runs from May 11–17 with events all around the world, and we’re doing our part here at ICF Sacramento to join the party!
A big thank you to those already involved in ICW through the Coast to Coast Pro Bono Coaching Challenge and as volunteers for the many offerings we’ve created for this very special week. It’s not too late to join the action — see the details below to learn more about participating.
This year, thanks to the work of our dedicated board members, ICW brings an added opportunity: ICF Sacramento will be spotlighted by local media, drawing the broader Sacramento community directly to us. This is your chance to be visible. Please take a few minutes to ensure an eye-catching presence in the ICF Sacramento Directory by adding your photo. It’s a simple step that can open the door to meaningful connections — and potential clients. Click here to view a video demonstrating how to add your photo plus bio, contact info, or a personal video.
Beyond ICW, we’re excited to bring you more thought-provoking programming throughout May and June, including sessions on coaching individuals on the autism spectrum and leveraging AI as your personal assistant. We’re also happy to support your professional growth through our continuing Core Competency Series and Coach Business Builder Series. And please save the date for our credentialing workshop on June 23, which will include valuable information about obtaining and maintaining your ICF credential, as well as our next BEACON meeting on June 10.
I look forward to seeing you (hopefully more than once!) next week. I’m proud to be a coach and a member of this incredible community. Let’s show Sacramento, and the world, the transformative power of the work we do.
With appreciation,
Carrie Chown
President, ICF Sacramento

Our ICW events launch next Monday, May 11 at 6:30pm with a virtual forum, “A Conversation Can Change Everything.” Hosted by Katie Kanowsky, ICF Sacramento Past President, this session is designed for those interested in learning more about professional coaching. An interactive group learning activity will be included, along with a live laser coaching demonstration, all showcasing how professional coaching can be transformative. The forum is open to all, at no cost — please invite your friends, family members, and associates interested in learning more about coaching. Register here.
Our ICW events continue with three in-person “Connect with ICF Sacramento Coaches" gatherings during the week. If you’re a professional coach, or are on the path to becoming certified, come join us to network and create connections with other coaches and community members. If you’d like to learn more about coaching, you’ll have an opportunity to connect with professional coaches from our chapter and community. These events are open to all, at no cost. Register for Cameron Park, Elk Grove, or East Sacramento.
Last but definitely not least, we invite our chapter members to join us in representing the coaching profession by volunteering at our ICW events. We have several volunteer opportunities available, whether it’s engaging with attendees who are curious about coaching, or offering short laser coaching sessions. Click here to learn more about our volunteer opportunities, or to sign up. We hope you’ll join us! |
On Wednesday, May 6 from 12:00pm–1:00pm PT, join presenter Cherie Silas, MCC for our Coach Business Builder workshop “Constellation Coaching Methods for Teams and Individuals.” This interactive session introduces coaches to constellation coaching methods for working with human organizational systems and subsystems. Participants will explore how coaching systems — such as teams, relationships, and organizational dynamics — differs from coaching individuals. Register here.
On Saturday, May 23 from 9:00am–11:00am PT, join us for our May field trip. We’ll be meeting at the Midtown Farmers Market for a relaxed, social morning. Think of this as an extended Coaches Café with a fresh-air, springtime feel! We’ll wander, explore, and enjoy the vibrant market, then head to Peet’s Coffee to settle in for conversation over coffee or tea. The field trip is open to all, at no cost. Register here. | | May Chapter Meeting and Lunch & Learn |
On Tuesday, May 12 from 6:30pm–8:00pm PT, join presenters Hayden Lee, MCC and neuroscientist Dr. Kelly Kent for our May Chapter Meeting “The Neuroscience of Trigger Management.” This presentation will explore the neuroscience of triggers, how to manage them effectively, and how to implement this information into coaching sessions. Register here.
Our May Lunch & Learn, “Coaching Individuals on the Autism Spectrum to Employment Success,” will be held Wednesday, May 20 from 12:00pm–1:00pm PT with speaker Barbara Bissonnette. Many individuals on the autism spectrum — including those with college degrees — struggle to choose the right job or career and get hired. This session offers practical strategies for guiding these clients to manageable employment. Register here. | | Call for Fall 2026 Conference Speakers |
The ICF Sacramento Annual Conference will be held on Friday, September 18. (Additional details will be coming, but for now, please save the date!)
This year, we are intentionally creating a coach-centered conference experience, designed to support coaches not just in learning, but in continuing, sustaining, and enjoying the work they are here to do. We’re seeking speakers for the conference, and we strongly encourage ICF Sacramento members to apply. (Speakers should be ICF-credentialed coaches.)
Our goal is to offer sessions that help coaches feel confident as a coach, and know what to do next, and that help them feel inspired and empowered to keep coaching no matter what stage they’re at.
Click here to read more about what we’re looking for in both speakers and sessions, and to submit your proposal. The submission deadline is Sunday, May 17.
If your work helps coaches feel more confident, capable, and connected to the impact they’re here to make, we would love to have you apply! | | May Peer Coaching Programs |
Registration ends May 31 for our next round of Peer Coaching, which begins June 5. Get to know other coaches connected to ICF Sacramento and contribute to each other’s development by creating a mutually supportive learning experience as you earn CCEUs in Core Competencies!
In our 3-session Coaching Triad program, participants meet once a week for 90 minutes, rotating to a different role (coach, client, and observer) each week of the program. Register here.
Our Reciprocal Coaching program offers a great opportunity for participants to practice their skills by participating as both a coach and a client. Register here. |
Next Monday, May 11 from 11:30am–12:30pm PT, we invite members to join us for a New(ish) Member/Associate Welcome Meeting. This is a great place to meet other coaches, share thoughts, and ask questions about membership, our chapter, or coaching in general. You’ll meet different people each time you attend, so join as many times as you like! Register here.
Our next in-person Coaches' Cafe is Tuesday, May 26 from 8:30am–9:30am PT at Cloud Forest Cafe in Davis. These are informal gatherings where coaches, potential coaches, and anyone interested in coaching can connect. Please let us know you’ll be attending! Register here. | | Grow as a Coach with Our Core Competency Series |
Our next Core Competency Series meeting is Thursday, May 28 from 6:00pm–7:00pm PT. Join speaker Carmen Perry monthly through October, with each month focusing on a different ICF Core Competency. Rather than treating competencies as checklists, participants will be invited to thoughtfully explore them as living practices that shape presence, relationship, and impact in their coaching. Register here. | |
