 | Stepping Into Spring: Renewal, Momentum, and Intentional Growth
Dear ICF Sacramento Members,
As we step into spring, I’m thinking about renewal, momentum, and intentional growth. The longer days and brighter light feel symbolic of what is happening within our chapter — a board energized, programs taking shape, and meaningful opportunities emerging for you, our members.
Along with our monthly programs and events, March brings our first quarterly BEACON (Belonging, Equity, Access Coaching Opportunity Network) meeting of the year, featuring popular returning speaker Dr. Freddy Sanders, MCC, presenting on ”Coaching Dignity, Agency, and Integrity in the AI Age.” Also returning in March is our Core Competency Series led by ICF Sacramento member Carmen Perry, PCC, where we will deep dive into these ICF standards of coaching mastery and excellence at each credential level. As you plan ahead, mark your calendars for International Coaching Week (ICW), May 11–17, and our Annual Conference on September 18. These events are shaping up to be some of our biggest and best ever, and I look forward to sharing all the exciting details in the coming months.
In addition to these programs and events, your Board of Directors has been hard at work moving several key initiatives forward. We are thinking expansively about how to support you with business development, coaching skills refinement, credentialing pathways, and new pro-bono and paid coaching opportunities, all grounded in DEIB principles and strong communications practices to ensure that diverse voices are elevated, equitable access is considered, and our entire community continues to grow in connection and belonging. We are committed to serving you in ways that are practical, inclusive, and meaningful, and to building structures that allow you to thrive as a professional coach.
As we move forward, it is also important to pause and acknowledge the recent loss of one of our members, Carrie Atkin, who tragically passed in the Sierra avalanche in February. Our hearts are with her family, friends, and colleagues, and all who were impacted by this event. Moments like these remind us how precious and fragile life is.
May we hold both gratitude and purpose as we continue our work, grateful for another day to live, to coach, and to positively impact the world around us.
With appreciation,
Carrie Chown
President, ICF Sacramento
| | Save the Date! International Coaching Week, May 11–17 |
International Coaching Week (ICW) is a 7-day celebration of the power and profound impact of professional coaching, where a conversation can change everything.
For more than 25 years, ICW has educated the public about the value of professional coaching and the results it helps individuals and organizations achieve. For coaches, ICW serves as a platform not only to raise public awareness about coaching, but to foster connections with peers worldwide while promoting collaboration and learning in the coaching community.
We’re still at work finalizing our event details for this transformative week, but for now, please save the date! When you join us for ICW you’ll find many ways to engage and make connections. | | ICF Sacramento Program Spotlight |
We asked what would make your membership even better in 2026, and you answered. We listened, and we’re thrilled to announce fresh programs and expanded offerings.
On Wednesday, March 11 from 12:00pm–1:00pm PT, we welcome Dr. Freddy Sanders for our March BEACON Meeting, “Coaching Dignity, Agency, and Integrity in the AI Age.” In this session, Dr. Freddy will introduce his DAISI (Dignity, Agency, Integrity, Stewardship, Intimacy) framework and share practical language and tools to help clients lead with humanity while navigating change, pressure, and AI-driven environments. REGISTER HERE.
Our 2026 Core Competency Series launches Thursday, March 26 from 6:00pm–7:00pm PT. Join speaker Carmen Perry monthly from March through October, with each month focusing on a different ICF Core Competency. Rather than treating competencies as checklists, participants will be invited to thoughtfully explore them as living practices that shape presence, relationship, and impact in their coaching. REGISTER HERE.
Come join us Wednesday, April 1 from 12:00pm–1:00pm PT for the first session of our new Coach Business Builder series. Twice each quarter, we’ll feature programs designed to support your business development and showcase useful tools. “From Directory to Discovery Call: Maximizing Your ICF Coach Page to Become a Client-Conversion Page” will be hosted by Lois Payne and Julie Martin from ICF Sacramento. The workshop will help you maximize your searchable listing in the ICF Sacramento Directory. REGISTER HERE. | | March Chapter Meeting and Lunch & Learn |
On Tuesday, March 10 from 6:30pm–8:00pm PT, join speaker Erin Robison for our March Chapter Meeting, “Strategic Presence — Turning Cues into Connections.” In this session, you’ll explore how subtle cues shape outcomes long before words do. Shifts in energy, polite disengagement, unspoken hesitation, and quiet resistance often go unnoticed, yet they determine whether a message lands or misses. Strategic Presence is about learning to see those signals early and adjusting in real time. REGISTER HERE.
Our March Lunch & Learn will be Wednesday, March 18 from 12:00pm–1:00pm PT. Speaker J Sikes will present “Somatic Coaching.” As coaches, we work side by side with our clients to support their transformation and growth. When guiding clients through transformation, an often overlooked component is the wisdom of the body. In this experiential session, attendees will gain an understanding of somatics and how somatic coaching fosters client growth. You’ll meet different people each time you attend, so join as many times as you like! REGISTER HERE.
Our next in-person Coaches' Cafe is Tuesday, March 24 from 8:30am–9:30am PT at Frenzy Coffee Co. in Davis. These are informal gatherings where coaches, potential coaches, and anyone interested in coaching can connect. Please let us know you’ll be attending! REGISTER HERE.
