About this event

CCEUs: 1.0 in Core Competencies

Date: November 18, 2026
Time:
Noon - 1:00pm PT

This session will explore a key aspect of ICF Core Competency #3 - Establishes and Maintains Agreement - which involves partnering with clients to define their desired outcomes in the coaching engagement. This is often referred to as the goal the client aims to achieve by the end of the coaching partnership.

Goal setting occurs at the beginning of the coaching process, and assisting clients in discovering goals that resonate with their true desires is a common challenge for coaches. This challenge frequently arises from clients' lack of self-awareness or their tendency to pursue goals influenced by external pressures instead of their own aspirations.

In this interactive session, participants will learn to help clients set compelling goals using the STRETCH™ Goal framework. This simple method aids coaches in crafting powerful questions and listening more deeply. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to facilitate impactful coaching conversations that empower clients to pursue meaningful objectives aligned with what matters most to them.

 Julius Ordonez
Speaker: Julius Ordoñez, MCC

Julius Ordoñez is the President and founder of Benchmark Consulting, a training, consulting, and coaching firm he built from the ground up over twenty years ago. What began as a vision has grown into a respected institution—one that embodies his core belief that individuals, teams, and organizations can continuously raise their own standards and become their own benchmark for excellence.

Julius Ordoñez is a true pioneer of coaching in Asia. He became a professional coach in 1999, brought the International Coaching Federation (ICF) to the Philippines, founded the ICF Philippines Chapter, and helped establish the profession across the region. He made history as the Philippines’ first ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC)—the highest credential in coaching—and stands among the first in the world to earn the ICF Advanced Certification in Team Coaching. From 2015 to 2017, he served as President of the Asia Pacific Alliance of Coaches (APAC), leading the professional coaching community across an entire hemisphere.

Julius served as a subject matter expert for an ICF global project that updated the ICF Core Competencies, and later for the development of the ICF Team Coaching Competencies. Through his ICF-accredited programs, he has trained hundreds of professional coaches and thousands of leaders worldwide, helping companies build lasting coaching cultures. In 2025, he received the Asia’s Distinguished Leader in Professional Coaching Award, recognizing his more than two decades of contributions to the field.

Julius studied Strategic Business Management at Harvard University and completed Management Consulting at New York University. He undertook a three-year coaching program at Corporate Coach University (US and Australia) and completed Life Coaching courses at the Coach Training Institute (CTI) in the USA. He is a trained Systemic Team Coach and specialized in Building a Coaching Culture in Germany. These global influences, combined with his deep experience in Asia, inform every program Benchmark designs—rooted in international standards, yet tailored to local realities.
